The article focuses on net.art, which started as an email lost in translation. Instead of using defined imagery, it utilized text communication and links. Net.art seemed to blow up for some time aligning itself with politics and culture. Russia and eastern Europe had grasped onto this method of expression. A way net.art was distributed was mailing lists on various web domains. As well, net.art provided opportunity to show off programming skills and engage those interacting with their websites. You could almost include modern bots with the age of net.art. Similarly scam/phising emails claiming to be an Ethiopian Prince. The words are usually garbled and sometimes are arranged in the form of an image. Chain-mail/letters are also a good example of net.art executed in a modern framework.
